Bio
Originally from Syracuse, NY, Joey's focus has always been on arts and entertainment. He moved to Manhattan and enjoyed a 14-year professional stage career, performing around the country in national tours and regional theaters as part of Actors Equity Association.
Joey made Sarasota his home and started a digital video production company. He launched award-winning campaigns for area foundations and national brands. He produced and starred in original webseries that garnered national recognition and landed him featured articles in Fast Company, front page of Yahoo, and YouTube milestones.
Joey joined WWSB ABC7 in 2013 as the Social Contributor, reporting on the Suncoast social scene. His focus later turned to tech and webtrends as he originated the role of Social Trends Correspondent. He was part of the original team of ABC7's daytime talk show, Suncoast View with his weekly What's Up, Joey? segment. He became a recurring guest host before taking over as Senior Producer in 2015.
Active in the community, Joey earns the hashtag #ManAboutTown as he teaches group fitness at the Sarasota YMCA, performs in Florida Studio Theatre's improv troupe, and volunteers for countless area organizations as a singer and emcee.
Despite his attempts at greatness, it is his long-haired chihuahua Lulu who has stolen the spotlight after she was highlighted on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
